Engineer jailed for GHS150,000 tipper truck fraud.

  Accra, July 5 (GNA) – A court in Accra has sentenced a 43-year-old agricultural engineer to three years in prison with hard labour for defrauding a businessman of GHS150,000. The man, Abraham Asudam, was found guilty of taking the money under false pretenses. He had claimed he could help the businessman, Mr. George Asudam, buy a tipper truck from Belgium.  Even though Abraham first said he was not guilty, the court, led by Judge Isaac Addo, found enough evidence to prove otherwise. The judge noted that Abraham was a first-time offender and had already spent some time in police custody while waiting for his sentence. The court had given him time to pay back part of the money — GHS30,000 — but he failed to do so even after several chances. The judge said the sentence should serve as a warning to others.
